could you pls explain effective parenting? what is the outcome you are expecting? for me co-parenting was to ensure my daughter gets the parenting from both sides and have a holistic approach to her life. it was about her freedom to choose too. so we both ( I and my ex) set some rules from the beginning. i have to been her primary guardian for major decisions in life and he has been the financial guardian. having said that ...we both are well informed of all her life decisions and take permissions from each other when it comes to her well -being. we are respectful of each other's expectations as a parent

Hi Juhi, Work life balance is a myth. Prioritising your life is important . Most important to start with is to have ME time for yourself. this helps us sort things in our head and see a clear picture. You could look at your schedule and consciously keep two days to spend quality time having conversations with kids depending on their age. Sometimes we confuse quality time with watching movies and going to mall. those are good but spending time with them knowing their thoughts process...their idea about their future is quality time. keep an outing once every two months to engage with them better. It does not have to expensive holidays. It can be simple things like camping, trekking or nature walk. Hope this helps .

If you are not attracted to anyone, it is fine. trust your instincts ☺️ Also it is a good idea to write down what exact qualities are you looking for in your partner. This helps manifest the right person for you. Otherwise sometimes we end up choosing the wrong person in desperation. Network actively in single parents community and meet more people which opens your options.

I can understand having abusive family members could be challenging. Can you pls elaborate so that I understand abuse in detail. i can share my thoughts accordingly

I don't think we can fill the gap of a father. It could be taxing if we try to play both the roles. They feel loved and cared for when we listen to them, show them the strength that we will work this out.Most children love to see strong moms. Having said that, having more open conversations with them helps you emote too and they see the softer version of you too. Let them know their life would be a bit different but definitely more healthy as they are not in an abusive environment. Join single parents communities in your city to meet more alike families.

That must hurt. It must be a difficult time for your daughter.Have you tried reaching out to school authorities? also pls consult a counsellor for her mental health. They would advise her the right way to cope with the bullying and handle it smartly.

I am happy to hear you took a strong decision of co-parenting. Co- parenting is healthy and effective if we set the rules and goals from the beginning. Pls have a clear talk with your ex about what you both want for your child and its future. Think of few activities you want to do every month to ensure that child gets the best of both. especially no bitching, complaining, and whining about the other partner in front of the child. Let the child grow and mature to understand the truth. Hope it helps.
