Today is my day. Today is the day for every single autistic individual. Who have gone through struggles to get accepted for who they are. Who still continue to stand up and fight the stigma and mindset. We just want to be ourselves in this world. We just want one thing i.e.acceptance for who we are. Please accept us and let us be ourselves! Happy Autism Acceptance Day! #autismacceptanceday #autismawareness #redinstead #autismadvocacy

Disabled people are the ones that mostly get bullied as our traits are always deemed "weird" which are not accepted by the neurotypicals. Bullying happens a lot, whether in schools, apartments, workplaces etc. Bullies can be children as well as adults. Bullying can take a huge toll in your life, it breaks you completely, and this pain, this trauma, will carry on for a long time, and it's not worth it. Please watch this short film by Much Much Spectrum and Ummeed Child Development Center where I share my experience of being bullied and what could be done! And yes please stop bullying disabled people! https://youtu.be/8BFwCXKkQPg?si=DbI-zjFN5h9FNrG2 #autismawareness #autismacceptance #autismadvocacy #neurodivergence #bullying
Thanks for sharing your experiences

You know what? It's not easy being an autistic woman! Did you know there is this stigma? Many people still consider autism to be something that men are, not something women are. Most people see us as "crazy". We get misdiagnosed a lot. Many autistic women are sometimes misdiagnosed with BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder), and many times we have been told that it's just depression and anxiety, not autism, when they are comorbid with autism. People have this stigma about women. That we have to be submissive. And with us autistic women, we don't understand social cues and we take time to process, so they feel they have the need to infantilise us. They think of us as pure and innocent and they get surprised when we actually stand up. And I don't know how many times people think of me as a "b**ch" because of being straightforward, honest and blunt. Had to put this out, because the stigma of being an autistic woman is real! This selfie was taken during my site's annual day function. #autismacceptancemonth #autismadvocacy #autisticwomen #actuallyautistic #cotowomen #cotocommunity

I have been diagnosed at the age of 16. Many people have learnt about autism only through books and movies. I created this community to speak and educate about autism through lived experiences, as well as create a supportive community. This is for autistic adults, mothers, educators, whoever interested in autism awareness and lived experiences. Autistic adults are also allowed to share and educate through their own experience. As a huge believer of intersectionality, I also hope to speak about other identities and experiences that are a part of us and not just limit to autism. Most autistics are against behavioral therapies except CBT and DBT, we will not promote that. We expect that you listen and not judge. We expect you to not speak over lived experiences. We hope you don't dirty delete any comments, nor display any ableism. We hope that you accept autistic people for who we are.more
I studied Music Therapy at Berklee College of Music. I have worked with various different populations like special education, geriatric, community, psychiatry and medical. I will be sharing some of my interventions, old and new. Each of them has some prompts. There will be interaction and engagement, by either answering the prompts or by singing along, it will be in the description. This is to give an idea of how Music Therapy works. more
